Rules for Exhibitors.
Entries must be on an official entry form either from the society’s yearbook for the current year, from an entry form available from W Jarman & Sons, 44 High Street Bovingdon, or on the online entry form for the show via the website.
Entries can either be made online direct to the relevant show secretary no later than 10 pm on the Thursday prior to the show, or entered via W Jarman & Sons with the relevant fee (in a sealed envelope marked ‘Bovingdon Horticultural Society’) by 12 noon on the Thursday prior to the show
FEES: 50 pence per entry, discounted to 25 pence per entry for current members.
Entry is free for all children’s entries (up to and including 15yrs of age on the date of the show). All child entries and age must be indicated on the entry form.
No exhibitor can enter more than three entries in any given class.
Only one prize per entrant is available in any single class.
All exhibits must be staged in their given location between the hours of 08:30 am and 10:30 am on the Show day, at which time the hall will be cleared for judging. Exhibits are to then remain on show until 16:30 pm.
All awards are at the judged discretion and prizes may be withheld or modified if exhibits are not considered worthy of the class prize.
The committee does not accept responsibility for any exhibit or container lost or damaged, however caused.
All cups and Bowls remain the property of the Society at all times.
(1) All exhibits in Sections 1, 2 & 3 in the Spring and Summer Shows plus 4 & 5 in the Autumn Show must have been grown personally by the exhibitor or have been in their possession for a minimum of 8 weeks prior to the show.
(2) Handicraft and Paintings must be solely of the exhibitors own work and must not have been exhibited previously at any of the societies shows. There should be neither visible signature nor identification.
(3) Children’s drawings, paintings and designs must be originals
(4) In Floral Art classes; the width must not exceed the dimension given for that particular class. Bases may be used.
(5) A “bowl” is a container whose diameter at its mouth is equal to or greater than its height.
(6) A “Vase” is a container whose height is greater than its diameter.
(7) Exhibitors to state variety of the plant when known.
In the event of two or more exhibitors gaining an equal number of points, the cup or medal will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining the highest number of first places. Should this not produce an outright winner, the number of second, then third places will be considered.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
FIRST – 60p (3 points)
SECOND – 40p (2 points)
THIRD – 20p (1 point)
Any names addresses and other contact details received via this website will be solely for the use of the society and its members, no contact details will be given or sold to any 3rd parties without the prior permission being given by the individual.

What information do we collect and store?
For each member we store your name, address, telephone number in the Membership File.
There is also a Society Email List of the Membership together with other individuals who have expressed an interest in receiving information from B&dHS by contacting us. This list, as well as email addresses, includes names, addresses and phone numbers.
If you are signed up to the Email list tracking information is collected (e.g. open rates and links clicked).
Website visit and usage information is collected.
What de we use the information for?
The Membership File is used solely for the functioning of B&dHS including the collection of subscriptions, holding shows and other events and activities. It also enables the distribution of publications and leaflets produced by B&dHS.
The Email List is the preferred method of distributing Newsletters, notices of events and activities and other communications from B&dHS.
The Membership File and Email List are maintained confidentially by the elected officers of B&dHS and are not shared with any other party or individual and will not be sold.
Where your information is stored
The Membership Files on a computer in the UK.
The Email List is stored on a US based server service which is certified under EU-US Privacy Shield framework.
The Website is hosted on a server located in UK.
All emails sent out provide links for you to update your information of to unsubscribe. Please be aware the if you unsubscribe you will no longer receive Newsletters and other information from B&dHS
B&dHS is a non-profit making society serving Bovingdon and surrounding towns and villages.
Any names and addressed given in relation to our allotment campaign will be subject to the normal terms and conditions of petitions laid out by local government.
